cpu suddenly run at max...

#1 Post by boon » Sat Mar 10, 2007 11:24 pm

I always set in power manager on lowest cpu, not adaptive in both ac and running on battery and it usually runs at 600 mhz, but after using an hour or so, cpu just start running at max. I always have to It kinda bothers me because laptop gets hot in the bottom. I always have to change power manager to maximum performance and then my own lowest cpu settings to set it back to 600 mhz again. Anyone got any ideas?

thanks

Have you looked in Task Manager to see which process is using up all your CPU?

I could be wrong about this, but it was my understand that when you set the CPU to low power, it will operate at the lower speed UNLESS it needs more. Is that not correct?

I checked the task manager and cpu processing is only a few%.

In the power manager I notice there is lowest cpu setting and adaptive. And I tested using the program prime95 stress test and using lowest cpu clock. And cpu never change to max unless I set to adaptive.

However, while surfing the internet for awhile the cpu is suddenly set to max @ 1.3ghz. It's like it just set on its own for no reason.

Edit: I found out the cpu is clocked at max whenever I use hibernation/standby. Shutting down does not affect it.
