Is X40 shallow palm rest a problem for anyone?

I am either going to purchase an X40 or a T42 shortly. I have large hands, and find that my palms are sitting on the edge of the X40 (the T42 has plenty of room). On a short test drive, it felt a bit awkward--is that likely to be a problem long term? A deal breaker? Anyone else experience this? I've been told that, in terms of proper ergonomics, you aren't supposed to rest your palms on the palm rest while typing, but that is what I have always done.
