Need help looking up a FRU -- 2-pin AC adapter wall plug

#1 Post by dmar » Wed Mar 14, 2007 1:16 pm

I need help finding the FRU for the AC adapter cord that runs from the wall to the actual AC adapter.

Lenovo sent me a replacement 56W AC adapter (FRU 92P1045) for my x41Tablet, but it didn't come with the actual wall adapter portion. My old one was a 3pin, and the new one they sent is a 2 pin, so I can't just reuse my old wall cable. I hope that my description is making sense :?

Just to clarify, I'm looking for a 2-pin wall cord that runs from the wall socket to the Adapter itself. If anyone has one of these AC adapters, can you kindly tell me what the part number is? Please also note, that I'm looking for the North America part.

On a side note, I called Lenovo, and I couldn't believe what the support guy said. He said, go to CompUSA and buy it. He wouldn't even give me the part number! Ridiculous!! He even went back into the history, and said, "I noticed that the previous tech didn't charge you for the replacement adapter... he should have."

So I pretty much hung up on him shortly thereafter. I very well might just go to CompUSA, but would like to get the OEM part if at all possible.

Thanks in advance!

You can go to almost any well-stocked electronics store and get a "figure-8" wall cord. That's the general description for the two-pin cords (if you look at it on end, the shape resembles an "8"). The 3-pin cords are usually called "Mickey Mouse".

BTW, I finally found a cord that still has the FRU label. It's 13H5264.

Thanks a bunch Ray!

Wow... just in case anyone else is looking for this part, it's highway robbery on ebay. In excess of $10.00 not including shipping. I'll try my luck at Frys electronics.

What you're looking for is a cord with IEC C7 connector, though as rkawakami has stated, figure-8 is a common name. The main point is, it's a completely standardized cord/connector for consumer electronics appliances, and there is no advantage whatsoever in getting an "official" OEM version.

pxa270,

Thanks for the link and the info. I think I'll abandon my search for an overpriced Lenovo cord, and go with yours and Ray's suggestions above.

I picked up a cord from Fry's a couple of weeks ago when an AC/DC combo adapter arrived without the AC cord. Strangely enough, the DC cord was included. I ended up with a Cables Unlimited 6' power cord (Fry's # 4458646) for $4.
