Clock speed - is this right? X24

#1 Post by popjoe » Tue Mar 20, 2007 6:33 am

Hi all,

I picked up an X24, my first laptop, and have a quick question.

By specifications the processor is 1.06GHz Pentium III-M. However, whilst in operation, (windows XP) the processor shows up as 733MHz.

Is this correct? I have read a little that the M series CPU can adjust their clock speed, so this would make sense, however when does the processor accelerate to 1.06GHz?

Thanks for your help!!

That's correct. That's SpeedStep at work. Try zipping/unzipping a large file and you will see your processor at 1.06 GHz.
