Internal WiFi for X30 (and bluetooth too?)

#1 Post by mybellyisempty » Wed Mar 21, 2007 7:25 am

Does anyone know of an 802.11G card that will work in the X30 without requiring an 1802 hack?

I know my T40's 2100B didn't work in it, and I never tried my Atheros or Intel ABG cards.

It's kind of hard to find the old intel high rate wireless lan + modem II or cisco cards for internal mPCI.

Also, anyone know where I can find a bluetooth card for it? if I have to go with the high rate + modem, I'd have room for the BT daughter card.

There is very nice thing on Ebay - Search  O.K. I can give You one link, that guy claim : It's not an IBM authorized card, I change this card's BIOS, so it works in those IBM models without any 1802 error Compare with IBM authorized card, it has better compatibility

All other stuff , what You look for, can be found on Ebay too.

Hacking the card isn't that much better, but hey, it's worth a shot - especially if he's willing to warranty it.

Thanks for the link.

and, I had tried ebay, but without know the FRUs of the old cards, searching for intel high rate wireless lan modem didn't find any results.
and as far as the bluetooth went, searching for X30 bluetooth just gives you PDA results.

But read carefully, there is some incompatibilities in X30, but just with old miniPCI cards.

Ah, too expensive for my tastes.

I guess if I'd have made my search requirements less specific, I'd have found them.

Thanks anyway!

thats the bluetooth for the x30, I think it is good price but unfortunately I can't buy that one since I use x31, may not be compatible.

you're just gonna have to use the 1802 patch since the x30 doesn't come with 802.11g,

and bluetooth+modem ones not sure it will be compatible on your machine you gonna have to do some research or anyone have tried it yet. Otherwise, you're gonna lose modem for that.
I love thinkpads

There's a note about the BlueTooth problem here:
