mini PCI WiFi in X24 - accepted? and which is main antenna?

#1 Post by popjoe » Sat Mar 24, 2007 2:05 am

Hi,

Installed a mini PCI wifi card in my X24 (Atheros a/b/g) but have not had a chance to see it in action because of my other problem located here.

I have read on the forums the problem of IBM BIOS using a whitelist to stop non-certified cards being used (whether the reason is legitimate or not).

Question is, if I do not get any error messages on boot up, does that mean the card is working with no problem in relation to not being verified an IBM component?

Thanks in advance.

Also if the card has two ports for the antenna, numbered 1 and 2, can i assume 1 is MAIN and 2 is AUX? does it matter which i plug into? (only have one antenna and not too worried about transfer speed, as long as i get 1-2Mbps). I have tried to find some documentation on my mini PCI but it seems hard to find any details.

That does not apply on the X20,X21,X22 or X24.

Yep!

Thanks cmarti. I did not know that. Phewph, some good news for a change!

Although logical to think 1 would be main, 2 would be aux, my last assumption lead to the keyboard accident :P
