X31 waaranty?
I just received a X31 that a fellow member fudgy sold me on this board. (Selling Thread)
The unit does not have any COA and Type+Serial # sticker on it's base but upon getting it detected on lenovo's site, it appears to be still in warranty till the end of the next month.
My question is, can and will lenovo replace it for me? if so then how do I ask them to?

The base, with the new stickers of same Type, Serial # and perhaps COA too?

I think that for the COA, you'll have to buy a new license. They won't send you an extra COA free... They're alreay so greedy concerning bulk CDs... !
For the S/N sticker, I have the same problem here. These without-S/N-stickers laptops usually come from companies' fleets, That may be replaceable.
Please tell what you'll achieve with the customer service
Maybe you could kind of trick them, telling you have replace the base for blemish/broken edges/hungry dog...

Heh. Here's a trick you MIGHT be able to pull - I wouldn't recommend it though.
a) Update the warranty (EZServ care extension packs for machines are around $200 a year, $380 for 2 years) so you won't get caught short. The X31s are sweethearts until they break, so it's almost always worth it.
b) Take a blunt metallic object and bash out the lower left exhaust grill (right behind the USB port)
c) Write up a ticket using ECS+ and ask them to replace the bottom bezel due to wear and tear (they'll usually do it if you are courteous with them) and request a box/depot return
d) Good chance is that when you get the machine back with the new bottom the machine type/sn stickers will be re-issued. As for the COA? Heh. Good luck. If I am clever I'll gank one from an EOLed NetVista/ThinkCentre @ the office and stick it on the battery bay door.
As long as the OEM code matches up Microsoft will usually let you slide, especially if you were forced to activate on the phone.
