How do I make Fn + F5 work in X30?

#1 Post by billp117 » Mon Apr 23, 2007 3:31 pm

I have an X30 with WiFi/modem card installed. I installed a Bluetooth daughter card and small antenna. They work fine, but must turn them on and off from Access Connection.

I cannot figure out how to get Fn + F5 working to do the same thing. Any suggestions?

Yes...I did install the Hot Key software for the X30 and all the other Fn + keys seem to work fine. I have a new keyboard but the problem existed with the old keyboard. I did see a version of Access IBM that had a screen shot of this...but my version does not

Thanks...Bill

i have the same problem here with a t43p but other way round... i changed from a t43 with atheros wireless to the t43p with intel and just swapped hard drives. bluetooth is working fine but wireless can't be enabled/disabled with fn+f5 anymore. I assume uninstalling hotkey driver and reinstalling it could help. have you already tried this?

I reinstalled both the Bluetooth and Key drivers...no luck.

Thanks for the advice.

I was under the impression that, for whatever reason (lack of hardware support, I think) this was not a possibility on the X30. I own one myself, and like you I added a BDC and internal WiFi. If you find otherwise, please post and let us know.

X30 Bluetooth

Bluetooth-enabled X30s have a button just below the display (rather than using Fn+F5) to turn on the Bluetooth. There is no option to turn the wireless radio on and off other than launching Access Connections (at least that I'm aware of, and I'm fairly certain of this). One of my X30s is BT enabled, unless I'm mistaken (which is possible) that if you add the BT card you also *must* add the button and change the bezel to get it to work.

Well, I've never heard anything about a button, but I'm pretty intrigued now.

I have an X30 which I added WiFi and Bluetooth to. Both work, but Access Connections is the only way to turn on the bluetooth. That said, Access Connections barely works with my Wi-Fi, when it does at all, so it's installed for the sole purpose of turning on the bluetooth.

Do you have any details on this button?

Thanks,
Scott

I put a shortcut to TpFnF5.exe on my desktop. This will turn on/off wireless & bluetooth but not independently.

Sorry just found it will control either if the settings are changed.
