X41 Battery problem

I have an excellent X41 which is only used for trips abroad. The last of these was last October since when the X41 has been stored. I prepared it for a forthcoming trip and the battery showed 88% full. however, whilst the laptop works fine on mains power it will not now boot up or show any signs of life on battery. I have tried recharging the battery for 24 hours as instructed but without success. Neither can Ii discharge it as I can't get the laptop to work on battery.
I have ordered a new battery which might establish whether the probelm is batter or laptop based.
PLEASE has any one any ideas as I go to Egypt shortly?

I ordered a back up battery when I ordered my X41s. The battery was never out of the box. When I took it out the other day, I plugged it in and it showed 98% charged. After charging over night, it would not hold a charge. I ended up calling Lenovo and they swapped it for me.

Many thanks. I have bought a new battery and all appears fine so it must be a duff original battery. I will contact Lenovo.
