X40 CPU upgrade

#1 Post by zuul » Tue May 08, 2007 7:20 am

Hello.

Would it be wise to upgrade one X40 1,4 Ghz to 2,0 Ghz. I have a friend that told me it is possible to upgrade. I'm thinking of how much would it reduce the battery life etc. and is it maby possible that common laptop 2ghz cpu is not suitable for X40.

Thank you ahead ...

Arthur

To the best of my knowledge the CPU in the X4x series is soldered to the motherboard and not upgradeable.

Sad but true. Perhaps they are soldered on for a reason? Less weight, certainly, due to no extra socket.

Although, it would be nice to be able to upgrade the X's.

I've noticed the CPUs that are soldered in tend to take up less vertical height. Maybe not a direct relation, but that appears to be the tendancy. And the X4x are pretty thin and sexy.
