Best keyboard for X40?

#1 Post by Otter » Sun May 13, 2007 12:25 pm

Just purchased an X40 with a Japanese language keyboard on eBay.

I assume I can swap out an English one for it.

Is there any difference between the available keyboards?

I've heard a lot about Thai keyboards, etc., but I don't know if that applies to the X4x models.

Thanks,
Aaron

The keyboard coming with my X41 is a Chicony (39T0868) one, which is worse than a NMB (39T0806) one I bought (from ebay as well). However, the feeling totally depends on individual, so you have to try by youself.

Here's some info from another thread on the issue:
The Chicony 93P4630 (made in China) has a much better feel. It has a click to it when the key is pressed and released.

The NMB keyboard (91P8319) feels very soft, doesn't have any audible click, and you just don't get feedback from your typing. My X41 came new with the Chicony keyboard, but I had to get a replacement (for an unrelated reason) - and I wound up with the NMB.

I'm typing on the NMB right now, and am seriously considering calling IBM and asking them to send me a Chicony keyboard.
They seemed to favor the Chicony. Do you agree with the "clicky" assessment?
