atheros terrible reception in x40

#1 Post by dorin » Tue May 15, 2007 8:58 am

hi there,

i just bought an atheros b/g card, fru 93P3475, but its reception capabilities are terrible.

with intel 2200bg i get full bars anywhere in the house, while with atheros only one (by bar i mean the 5bars in windows wireless network).

the latest driver was installed, the antenas properly mounted but....
i put back the intel, back to 5 bars

any ideas what to do?

thanks,

dorin

That card arrived quickly!

Poor reception with the Atheros is very odd. I got much better reception in my X40's with Atheros adapters than Intel's.

I'd try again and make sure the antenna connection is solid - those little connectors are sometimes tough to snap.

I'd also try completely removing the Intel drivers.

Good luck.

Also make sure you have both antenna connectors firmly attached, both main and aux. If you only have one, you will have problems with reception and throughput.

Good to hear. Atheros cards are great.

USPS does amaze me, sometimes it take longer to deliver within the US than ship to Europe.
