cd writer doesn't work

i have the x4 dock for my x40, but the burner isn't working. when i put burned cd's or dvd's in it they work fine. when i put a blank cd in and i double click the drive it says "D:/ not accessible - Incorrect Function". i've tried a usb cd writer and it does the same thing. what's wrong?

Get another brand of CD's.

yeah, but the thing is that the cd-r disc doesn't work in my other 2 usb burners. they're perfectly good cd-rs that i've burned on other computers.
