question for battery recharge...

#1 Post by cooleye » Tue Oct 12, 2004 3:01 am

In order to take good care of the battery, do I need to use up the battery before recharging? Does it matter if I recharge it when 6% left?

Thanks.

You can go here for tips from IBM http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... QNQJN.html

It's best to completely drain the battery to 0% before recharging monthly (see the batteries help file in your computer).

WARNING: this does not appy to Lithium batteries.

Here is a quote from the IBM site:

"Do not deep-discharge Lithium Ion batteries . . . For some rechargeable batteries (particularly Lithium Ion batteries), leaving a battery unused in a discharged state could increase the risk of a battery short circuit, which could shorten the life of the battery and can also pose a safety hazard. Do not let rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries completely discharge or store these batteries in a discharged state."
