X30 power problem
X30 power problem
I've had a weird problem pop up on my X30 recently. I've had no problems with it whatsoever up until now...
Anyway, the issue is that the TP will NOT power on unless the AC adapter is plugged in. Once the power is on, then I can remove the AC adapter and it works fine.
I've made no changes to my configuration.
I do have and use both a media slice and the extra battery that attaches to the same port as the media slice. AFAIK I've done nothing to damage the connector.
Has anyone seen this kind of behavior, and, if so, what can I do to fix it? Or should I just bite the bullet and send it in for repair? I really don't want to do that, but I have to be able to power it up without the AC adapter...
Thanks in advance for assistance/feedback.

Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't matter if it's docked to the media slice or not. It doesn't matter if the big battery is connected or not. It's consistent.
I'm thinking this is a power chip problem. As soon as I get my T43 back from service (liquid spill, no power of any kind without adapter being connected) I'll probably send this one in for service as well... I love my X30 and don't want to give it up.

Ever since getting the X3 mediaslice and using it once and a while, I've been having power issues of a different sort.
Lately when I pick up the X30 and tilt it slightly, it shuts off. Sometimes when I shutdown completely from XP, upon closing the lid the computer powers on again. My usual fixes are to hard press the power button till it shuts off (which isn't a good thing to do I know) or after shutting the lid, to remove the battery.
I'm only guessing it has to do w/ some faulty wiring from the base to the screen (as in when you shut the lid to go to suspend mode). Anyone else have a similar problem?

Re: X30 power problem
My wife had same symptoms on her 3 yrs. old HP, it was initially diagnosed as a case of bad battery bought from ebay first then motherboard circuitry problem second. Since atleast I have never experienced such a problem on my X31's so I can't say it for sure but it could be one of the two problems I mentioned above.digitania wrote:snip............Anyway, the issue is that the TP will NOT power on unless the AC adapter is plugged in.
