I too just picked up a nice X21 (700MHz PIII, 384MB RAM, Win2K COA sticker, Ultrabase with CD-ROM and floppy), for $135US. I bought it to replace my 570E, which was too bulky, heavy and slow. I am running my institution's copy of XP Pro on it and it works like a champ. I had three X20's and two X22's before, so it's my 6th X2* Thinkpad!
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

And you haven't sold off the ultrabase yet? :)

Not yet, even though I think it's the ugliest thing in the world. I am keeping it so that it will be easier to sell the laptop in the future.

Did you sell your X23's ultrabase?

I don't understand (again (again)).. Are the ultrabays no good then? Or just ugly? I thought they were useful for extra hardrives and stuff?

I quite like mine. I've never seen anything like leaving drives and whatnot behind on the docking station.

My X23 came with a dock. When I realized that it would fit not only my X23 but my X30 as well, I decided it was a beter option to hang on to it than to try to find an external CD-ROM drive that would boot them.
