Wireless on my X20

#1 Post by GnatGoSplat » Fri Jun 29, 2007 7:54 pm

I put an internal wireless card in my X20 and bought some antennas that I attached behind the LCD. However, my signal strength is pretty poor (2-bars) in the next room from the router where my T43 has 5-bars.

Here's the antennas I bought:

Is there a specific way to orient this type of antenna? I attached them to the back of the LCD on the white part at the top 2 corners. The wire is on top and the solder side faces the LCD housing. I couldn't find anything via Google to tell me if there's a certain way to mount these so I don't know if I got crappy antennas or didn't install the correctly. I did notice if I turn the laptop to where the LCD faces the router instead of the cover, signal goes up a bar.

From what I understand, the wires need to face outward from the LCD - that is, the solder side needs to face the black plastic of the LCD lid.

I did put the solder side facing the black LCD cover, so I guess I got that part right. Any specific way to rotate them?
