x31 - access connections not working properly

i'm having problems with access connections. under device manager this is what is listed:

network adapters
-1394 net adapter #2
- intl(r) pro/1000mt mobile connection
- intel(r) pro/wireless lan 2100 3b mini pci adapter

the problem is, access connections seems to have no control over the wireless radio. i have to use windows wireless interface to do this and i would rather not. fn+f5 brings up access connections but when i try turning on/off the wireless radio nothing happens. when i try to look for wireless networks, it tells me i must first turn on the wireless radio even though i am already connected.

i got this computer used on ebay and i'm wondering if someone put in an aftermarket adapter that somehow doesn't work with access connections. is there a way to confirm this?

Well, your device manager says it was not an aftermarket adapter, but after some proper effort on my part (in 2004 IIRC) with my T41, I flung the Intel 2100 into the garbage where it belonged. I put an IBM (Atheros) adapter in the machine and never looked back. All versions of wireless NIC and Access Connections worked harmoniously. I now am working with AC V4.41 and find it to be good, reliable and stable. ... JDH
