X41 Black spots on lcd

Hi,

Anyone got warranty experience with the following:

My X41’s screen is nice and bright, good viewing angle and such. Notting to complain about really .. but yesterday my X41 started developing the semi-black / dark spots about 5mm from the bezel on my taskbar (downside of the screen)

It first started with a 1mm spot which is slightly darker, but 10 hours of usage later and I got two noticeable spots (1mm and 0.9mm in diameter) and one slightly noticeable 1mm spot all maximally 1 cm from the bezel. So fortunate enough not in the middle of the screen. But when I run presentations with a white background you really notice it …

One thing is for sure, it aren’t those (brighter!) pressure marks. Because the laptop hasn’t even moved … it has been sitting on my desk all day.

Can someone give me advice on this? I got 3 years carry-in warranty in Europe.
Will this be covered? I think so… but I need similar stories.

Could it be dust that has gotten inside the screen? That is a problem I have on my X41 - one day three weeks ago I suddenly had three such spots, then five, and now it is seven or so. I'm pretty sure it is dust, as some of the spots shift their positions when I carry the notebook in its bag for a while.

As far as I know this is covered by warranty, the screen is supposed to be sealed tight. At the moment I cannot afford being without my X41 for a week or so, but I will send it in once I have the time.

I had this problem once before with a brand new (desktop)screen from an other brand. And now that you say it ... they replaced it under the name of a spec of dust or production error.

Let me know how your warranty handling went. I am curios.
I my self can miss my unit for 1 to two weeks. So I think I will give them an call when I have some time (busy busy and … yes busy here)


By the way… a fitting nickname for this problem ;)
