Setting Type and Serial with Maintenance Disk on X31

I have this X31 that hasn't been working with ThinkVantage Update as the type/serial number is incorrect. It actually says that the number is not recognised.

I have got Maintenance Disk v1.75 and I tried putting in the correct number from the bottom of the machine.

However there was some confusion, as the screen text said that I should get the second part of the number from another place. But there appears to be only one number underneath my machine, so I just used that one:

TYPE: 2672-C2G

SERIAL: 99-TXRFM

NUMBER TYPED IN: 2672C2G99TXRFM

ThinkVantage this time did not say that the number was not recognised, but it went on to say that "No packages applicable to your system were found".

Then I read in this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=12263
..that 'S1' or '1S' should be added to the beginning to the number. But as they were talking about the T-series, I was wondering if this is the same for the X-series?

In another thread I read that any two letters at the beginning should be added.

So what other letters was the Maintenance Disk talking about?

Or what two letters should be added to the beginning, and why doesn't the Maintenance Disk mention them?

OK, I have fixed it, but I won't delete my post in case somebody searches for it and finds it helpful.

I just used the same number as I did before, but added X1 in front of it, just for the hell of it. It worked!
