problem with Atheros abg card and X31

#1 Post by keku » Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:18 pm

When installed IBM a/b/g PCI mini II card (part no FRU 39T0081) , my thinkpad X31's bios reports that there is an "unauthorized card" installed and will not allow the startup to continue.

Can some one help please.

Thanks

but card installing is "genuine" IBM Model of anthos card, it was shipped by IBM and it has IBM FRU number on it. (I purchased it for T43P, but never installed it.)

shouldn't it be supported without messing with BIOS ???

If it is a newer card, it may not have the information in the BIOS to support it. You can try updating the BIOS and Embedded Controller to the latest version.

Both of our X31s had to have the no-1802 patch applied to work with an IBM Atheros abg card -- even after upgrading to the latest BIOS. The patch only sets a single bit in the CMOS to bypass the card check so it really is very, very low risk.
