Flashing EEPROM for 2915ABG to avoid 1802 - Need help

#1 Post by vennstrom » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:21 am

Guys,

I found a guy who can flash the mini PCI EEPROM from IBM to Intel, but I'm stuck here as I have zero knowledge on Linux.

http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/topic9174.html

According to above link, I followed using Ubuntu Feisty Fawn CD (lost my old Knoppix CD), I manage to change the Dev ID & Sub Sys ID number to the original IBM but I have problem in the step as the command "sh load" will not work...hence I couldn't recalculate the checksum command (which I assume will write to the eeprom of the mini pci)

Thanks, I will revised the proper step and will post it if it's a success.

Done....but still not working, centrino logo is up, 1802 still there and now the driver won't recognize the card (Intel & Lenovo)

So I guess my card is useless now.....but I learn new thing.

Did you try the no-1802 approach (which disables the check by setting a bit in the BIOS)?

If you are running Linux, you can build from source code and just run it:

I tried 1802 patch. I can boot to windows, network card is recognized but either driver work on it (2915ABG driver from Intel or Lenovo)

I'm using the default wireless B for the moment, looking for a good bargain of 31P9701 or 39T0071

I check with IBM hong kong and they sent me quotation of 39T0071 for 5167 Hong Kong dollars = 660 USD....nuts..I can buy another X31 for that amount.
