x31 and external monitor resolution

#1 Post by blipblop » Thu Oct 21, 2004 7:20 pm

I bought a monitor with a native resolution of 1280x1024. While I know that my x31 has a max resolution on it's LCD panel of 1024x768, I assumed (and still do) that it can run higher resolution on external monitors - after all the graphics subsystem supports up to 2048x1536 (65536 colors) as described herehttp://www5.pc.ibm.com/us/products.nsf/ ... WU#display. For some reason, however, I can't get the x31 to run the external screen at a higher resolution than 1024x768. What am I doing wrong?[/url]

I guess nobody knows the answer, or considers this question to stupid to ask? If its the latter, then I apologize, but I am sincerely stumped by this.

I haven't messed with external monitors and don't know the effects on an external but this utility (PowerStrip) may assist, it bumped my resolution to an optional max of 1600x1200 on an X20.

Really? I downloaded and installed it. How did you achieve this? Did you create a custom .inf for Windows to use?

I'd ideally like my x31 to be running at 1024x768 when on the go, and when I dock it on my ultrabase x3, to have the 17 inch TFT that is attached to the dock, run at 1280x1024.

I don't recall having to do any manual manipulation at all, just inst and open display prop+settings and slide the bar as usual

or

launch the program from the start menu (mine minimizes to the sys tray), right click the icon in the sys tray and select display profiles+configure, and slide the bar for resolution to what ever you like.

Note that the color quality may be affected.
