#1 Post by phillyd2 » Sun Aug 05, 2007 4:16 pm

Can a Internal mini-PCI wireless WiFi card (FRU 91P7267) from a older X31 be installed into a X20 2662 11U ?

Yes, but

a) you'll lose the internal wired Ethernet and modem
b) you'll need to add the antennas inside the LCD lid

Nothing endures but change

Deciding to add internal wireless in an X20/21 depends on what you use to connect to the internet regularly. If you choose to go with internal wireless, you can get PCMCIA cards that provide 10/100 ethernet and 56k modem connectivity. If you would rather keep the internal modem and ethernet, you could get a 3com 802.11 a/b/g XJACK card instead (Several members of the forum like the XJACK cards, myself included)

Thanks. The X20 already has a PCMCIA wireless card but since I also have a extra internal one I thought I would ask. However I don't want to lose the modem and Ethernet.
