Wireless doesn't work when resumed from standby?

#1 Post by Motohead » Mon Aug 06, 2007 1:07 am

I've been getting my new (to me) x31 set up and am very happy so far. The internal wireless works pretty good, but if I put the computer into standby for an hour or so, the web pages that I had open will no longer load/reload. If I put the system on standby for only a few minutes, there are no problems. It says that the connection is still strong. Any ideas?

Also, any idea why the message boxes for the toolbar icons suddenly decided to show up behind my toolbar? I can't even see how much battery I have left without clicking to view the battery meter. I have auto-hide enabled, with the toolbar locked on top of other windows.

Thanks,
Drew

Try re-activating the wireless profile, if you have that option. I'm not sure what Wireless connection manager you're using, based on the above paragraph. Give a hint?

That's a Windows issue, not x31 specific. Happens sometimes. Annoying, I know. :) Give it a few seconds, and try again. Or, double-click on the toolbar icon to pull up the info.

I'm using the factory IBM Access Connections program. Actually, is it really necessary?

My T61 does something similar, because it turns off the power to the wireless card to save on power. I think that there was an option do keep it on, but I can't remember right now...

When I woke the computer up this morning, the wireless was dead. So I thought to cycle the card by Fn+F5, but apparently, recent microsoft updates have caused that to cease working as well. Is there a fix for that?

Have you tried using the drivers straight from Intel instead of the drivers from Lenovo?

I have the EXACT same problem with the X41 Tablet (including the message bar). I've tried everything -- even downloading the wireless adapters from Intel (for 2915 a/b/g). Interestingly, even though I have version 9.01 I've tried updating to the newest version (11 something I believe) but it won't install. It goes through all of the motions, but the newer version is never installed.
