[x40-winxpsp2] Trouble with SDIO

#1 Post by psi258 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:39 pm

Hi,
i had some trouble with the sd-cardreader. I have installed a fresh copy of windows xp pro with sp2 included. The secure digital hostcontroler is detected in hardware contol, but if i insert a sd-card it either show under harddisk a device with the warning that the device could not be started or do nothing. I have already tried to insert a different card(tried with a 1gb and 2gb-card) and to reboot, but it did not help. The SDIO-Port works fine on linux but i need it in windows.

Have anybody an idea? Do i need special drivers?

Here is the driver that should get it going.
ThinkPad SD storage and standard host controller bus driver - ThinkPad Reserve Edition, R61, X40, X41, X60, X60s, X61, X61s, Z60t, Z60m, Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t

Here is a list of most all the drivers for your ThinkPad (I am guessing you do not have the Tablet model).
Drivers and software - ThinkPad X40, X41

Be sure and check the readme files for specific installation instructions.

Thanks for the links.
Have replaced the .inf-files and the driverfiles of windows(which comes already with xp sp2), but i get after reinstallation of the reader the same error. In systemoverview it sais under "Secure Digital Storage Device" the warning that the device could not been started. I had inserted a 2gb-sd-card. Any idea?

I am not familiar with the SD slot in the ThinkPads, but for the multicard reader I have for my desktop, I have to insert the SD card upside-down. Check out the following link to see if an incompatible card might be your problem.
