Adding bluetooth to an X31 thinkpad

#1 Post by solitude » Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:41 am

Hey :)

I have added the Bluetooth modem CDC to my thinkpad, and that is installed fine, but there is no aerial for it in the thinkpad.

What parts do i need to add the aerial on?

Help from anyone who has done this before and/or has one for sale would be much appreciated. :)

The proper IBM aerial is a replacement plastic box thing, that replaces the empty shell of plastic that's just to the right of the left screen hinge.

You could also get away with a smaller antenna that some eBay vendors sell (or even bundle for free with a BMDC card) that sticks to the underside of the case somewhere.

When I added bluetooth to my X30 I found that I was able to purchase the appropriate antenna/housing direct from IBM for something like $6 + shipping (which was reasonable).

I don't remember the exact link, but google and/or search at ibm/lenovo's site should be able to turn something up. I know part numbers are listed SOMEWHERE in this forum.
