Sounds like the CompactFlash port. Surprise-surprise.. I never used it but it's there for e.g. digital camera downloads if your camera uses compactflash for storage...........

X22's came both in wireless and non-wireless models.

You have to remove the keyboard (or possibly a cover on the machine bottom) to check for wires around the miniPCI slot(marked aux and main). Also if the base cover is marked with a part number and it is 26P9800, then it is wireless ready.

802.3 is wired ethernet. You have to remove a cover to see if the wires are there ... near the miniPCI slot.

You have to remove the keyboard to see the mini-PCI card. The Hardware Maintenance Manual will lead the way. Once that is off, the card will be on the left side of the machine.

X2*'s Compact Flash slot does support IO, so stuff like Bluetooth and WiFi cards will work.

Thanks for all the help folks....it does NOT have wireless built in...I asked some one in another thread about adding wifi with the under keyboard antenae and wanting to know how well they work.
Anyone have an opinion or one for sale?

I added in a wifi card to mine. I meant to take some nice pictures and post up how I did it, and screwed it all up.

The wifi card was the cheapest thing I could get on ebay that did B and G and works in linux, but it can't be powered off. The antennae are 1 internal that is layed under the keyboard just above the CF slot, it fits nicely, doesn't move around and gets a surprisingly good signal.

The other antenna is a screw on unit, I bought a pig-tail off ebay and since my wifi-card didn't have a modem in it, I drilled a whole and ran the pigtail through the back and connected to the wifi card. The screw on connect is set in the modem port and held in with a huge amount of superglue (very solid, surprisingly). If I need an extra bit of range I have an external antenna (from a linksys router) I can screw on the back.

If need be I can take some pics.
