non calibrating trackpoint on X40

#1 Post by nogoro » Sat Aug 25, 2007 4:23 am

Hi.

I have a 3 yr old X40, and last year the mouse cursor started to move toward the upper right corner of the screen all by itself. As a result I have been disabling the trackpoint and using a USB mouse. Now I found this site and was hoping someone knows how to fix this problem. I have installed and reinstalled the trackpoint drivers from lenovo without success. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

i believe that is normal. All my thinkpads have done this (X20, X30, current X31, T23, T30, etc...)

thanks for your anecdote. Were you able to do anything to make the mouse pointer less erratic? I am no longer able to use my trackpoint due to this problem, and would rather not use a mouse which takes up an extra USB port.

Does it go on the right of the screen all the time by itself? Is it this much erratic that it does not even let you use it? If so then I believe it's the keyboard problem.

didn't realize it was that severe. I'd get a new keyboard from ebay. they aren't expensive, and are very easy to install.
