QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
I have had my X22 for about 5 years, memory and stuff (Win XP Pro SP2, DVD_RW dock, 1GB RAM) upgraded a few years ago , but now I want to use it for Video with large LCD monitor with WUXGA resolution.
AND__ can I??? My previous thinkpad had a big display that showed all the ports and connections, but I really only use the USB and PC card slots, and after all kinds of searching I read that I have a VGA out for the monitor but I dk where it is.,
or what it can do.
I really like my keyboard and eraser and this laptop is fine for me,
I looked at some 17" widescreen laptops_ not satisfied.
So, this is a temp for a year till they come up with something better.
Kindly advise
mj

The X22 cannot drive a 24" widescreen LCD at its native resolution i.e. 1920x1200.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to details- found manual and looked at system properties AND- laptop is an X 24 not 22, probably no diff??.
And in 2005 when replaced the fan I was told RAM was upgraded.
BUT system properties window gives different numbers depending on path, both say
III CPU M-1133Hz, but then one says 722 MHX 256 RAM and the other says 1.3 GHz 256 RAM. I thought it was 600 something- can the memory chips die???
Is there a different- more accurate place to look in the system for hardware information.
Also_ I see Monitor max res issue. Manual says max screen res is1024 by 768, and max monitor res is 1600 by 1200 but also 1 mil something colors????
Also_ Is the VGA connector the thing with 9 little pegs on the dock or the blue thing with 15 holes in the back of the laptop?? What kind of cord connects it to monitor??
Anyway- thanks for any crumbs of info!!!!! mj

Re:
I'm sure it can, but you'll need to get the ATI catalyst driver 8.04, hack it with DHmod so it will install, then use pstrip.exe to set the proper resolution. It will run at 16-bit though.pianowizard wrote:The X22 cannot drive a 24" widescreen LCD at its native resolution i.e. 1920x1200.
(I know this is a necro post, but I replied just for completion purposes).
Re: QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
I have used my X22 and X23 on both 19" LCD display with 1440x900 and 32" TV with 1366x768, drivers from IBM site with both and no problems whatsoever. 32bit colour also. Don't know about 1080p though.

Re: QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
Is there a x22 docking station available in which you can put a graphic card to connect to your 24 inch monitor? That would be the easiest solution and both docking station and gpu should be very cheap (around 20 $ each maximum).
Re: QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
It's a large jump though from that to 1920x1200, that's a lot more data to drive.Raceboy wrote:I have used my X22 and X23 on both 19" LCD display with 1440x900 and 32" TV with 1366x768, drivers from IBM site with both and no problems whatsoever. 32bit colour also. Don't know about 1080p though.
Re: QUESTION: a 24" monitor for my X22
Either the Dock (X2x, X3x, T2x, T3x, R3x, R4x) or Dock II (also accepts T4x and R5x series).
Both will take an X22, and accept a PCI video card. There are quad head video cards for either dock, but the largest that will fit works at a maximum of 1600x1200x4monitors. There are dual head and single head cards that support 1920x1200 and higher. I'm pretty sure the built-in video will work at 1920x1200 although I haven't tested it myself, but I use an X22 with a 1600x1200 21" non-wide LCD.
