Battery refuses to charge!

#1 Post by XIII » Sat Sep 22, 2007 7:08 pm

I have a problem with my X41 tablet where the battery refuses to charge. It charges up from 0% to 22% and then stop. If I unplug the ac acapter, the machine shuts down, so the battery doesn't seem to provide a current. It can't even discharge because I can't power on the laptop without the ac adapter even though the battery is still plugged in. It's a brand new battery with only 1 charge cycle. I used it 4 months before and then put it into storage and only take it out to use just yesterday and then this happens. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Try removing the battery, and boot the X41 a few times, then while it is off, reinstall the battery and see if it takes a charge. Sometimes, the battery and the system need to reset themselves...with our help.

It does not work.
I tried installing Linux to make sure that the problem is OS independent but I get the same result.

My guess, a generic battery bought from ebay.

If not then batteries from lenovo do come with 1 year limited warranty.

It is an authentic battery that comes with my X41 Tablet. I just stored it in the shipping box for 6 months. I have never even charged it.
My guess would be that the battery is dead due to overdischarge in such a long time. Any insight to help me recover the battery would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Perform a Battery Reset.

Also look into some tips for Troubleshooting battery issues from lenovo.
