Creaking mouse buttons on X31?

#1 Post by johnson » Mon Sep 24, 2007 6:28 pm

Anyone have a problem with their trackpoint buttons creaking if you move your fingers from left to right on the buttons? It's been going on for a while now and it gets annoying. Would a new keyboard be covered under warranty?

IMHO, if the machine is still under warranty and you called Lenovo and told them the trackpoint buttons creak, I think they'd overnight you a new keyboard. Give it a shot.

Definitely. Get anything that you don't like about the machine changed under warranty if you can.

WD40 -- less hassle than changing a keyboard!

takes you more than a minute to do?

Changing a keyboard? (4) screws and a connector. Timing depends on how fast you unscrew :)

A squirt of WD40 takes about 2 seconds.

Changing the keyboard involves contacting Lenovo, explaining the problem, convincing them it's still under warranty ... I don't what. I couldn't be bothered with it.

Each to his (or her) own. :)
