Upgrading X21 HDD

#1 Post by cofreth » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:59 am

HI,

I am using an X21 running the latest bios version 2.25.
Presently using the 20Gb HDD and I want to upgrade the capacity.
Wondering what is the maximum HDD capacity can this bios support.
Can I purchase from any off the shelf 2.5" internal hardisk with a 9.5mm 5400rpm UATA range between 60Gb to 100Gb HDD?

Thank you

Any 2.5" PATA notebook drive ought to work. The favorite for the hot rodders around here is the Hitachi Travelstar 7K100, but you will see a significant performance boost with any 7200rpm drive (or 5400rpm for that matter).

Edit: I just noticed that this is your first post. Welcome to the forum!

The Spirit of X21, thank you,

So a PATA is running at 7200Rpm and it can shake hand with the X21? :D

Not only can it shake hands; it can do the "secret handshake"! :)

Since I usually use this lappy mainly for surfing the internet, when I am outside surfing the net with the use of a battery, is it necessary for me to upgrade to a higher speed and capacity HDD, so that I can extend the battery usage time a little bit longer or it doesn't really make a difference?
Presently my original battery that came with the lappy 3600mAh can last me only about 40 min and it will go into hibernate mode, another new spare battery I have 4400mAh can only last me 2 hour 15 min, is it something abnormal?

Thank you
