x24 keeps going into standby mode when using battery

#1 Post by istel » Wed Oct 03, 2007 2:23 pm

Hi All,

Recently purchased a new China OEM battery from a second hand thinkpad distributor.

Now the problem is, even though I've "battery reset" the battery a few times. There are times when the battery has been fully charged and when I shutdown/hibernate the laptop down. The next time I powered the x24 up, it immediately goes into standby mode with the green(not blinking) moon icon.

Sometimes, removing and replacing the battery does the trick and the battery maximiser goes back to say 97% full and it stays on for say 2 hrs.

However, today when I powered up my laptop at home after fully charging it in my office. It shows up as only 6% charged. When I check the maximiser status, for some reason it resets the designed charge wattage to 654+? when the previous time round it was 38+ and the remaining wattage was at 34+ and then it went into standby mode again.

I tried the old trick but it doesn't seem to work...

Does anyone know what is going on with my x24? Is it the battery pack's problem or there's something wrong with my x24's charging mechanism?

Hope to find an answer soon before I visit the vendor to scream at him...

Cheers

cant say for sure but it looks like a battery problem unfortunately unbranded batteries are that good ( i got one for my cell and it is very week same thing for the laptop )

one thing that i might suggest is put it in the freezer for the night plug it back to laptop and charge it

i have used this trick on my old pismo laptop

Yep definitely sounds like a battery issue, e.g. :

X30 not charging battery
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Thanks for your replies.
It's been most helpful, have went back to the vendor and we'll see how it goes...

Anyone interested in a 7-8/10 condition x24 with media slice (DVD rom)? :)

Cheers
