How I Worked Around the Slow Hard Drive on the x41 Tablet

#1 Post by irv4 » Sun Oct 14, 2007 12:09 am

I hope it isn't frustrating that the info is in a link, but I wrote up instructions on my Windows tips blog:

http://windowstipsandfixes.blogspot.com ... drive.html

As a preview, the tips involve using a Cardbus UDMA CompactFlash adapter to store some indexes on a UDMA-enabled CF card. Also, uninstalling some background security software helps a lot, but I realize this point is controversial. There's more discussion on this point here: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000803.html

I hope this might be at least a little useful to you all. I've appreciated the help I've gotten on this board, so I wanted to contribute.

I got it on Ebay, but it's on Amazon, too.
