Wanting to upgrade RAM on my thinkpas x40

#1 Post by jromulo » Tue Oct 16, 2007 4:34 pm

Hello all,

I recently purchased a used thinkpad x40 a few months ago and i like it a lot. i was looking to upgrade the ram on it, currently it has 512MB RAM. Can anyone here advise me on how to go about doing this? I am pretty clueless on what ram to get and where to buy it. All i know is that I am just looking to buy another 512MB RAM upgrade to have a total of at least 1GB RAM. Thanks for the help.

P.S. I was looking on newegg but wasn't sure what to get since there are soo many on there.

Go to Crucial's website. They have a RAM selector tool, you input laptop make and model, they tell you what to buy. You don't need to buy from them though, just take the type of RAM and use it to buy wherever you like.

The X40 uses DDR PC2700. I would just go for a 1GB stick to max it out and be done with it. The price isn't that much more. And that is in fact what I did when I got my X40 recently.

Newegg is a good place. I have always been happy with them.
