Quick X3x question

#1 Post by SaberX » Wed Oct 31, 2007 1:29 pm

Just wondering if a X31 motherboard will fit into a X30 system?
I have been looking at the HMM for the X3x systems.
Frim what i can see the LCD lids and screens will fit eather X30,X31's,or X32's they are the same.

Actually, the lid on the X30 and X31 are different on mine, as the X30 has not got the built in wifi antennas, and has not quite got the room to have them retro-fitted.

The internal layout of the two is a little different too, due to the different processor types being used (PIII-M and P-M), although I cannot remember if the actual chassis is any different.

I'm pretty sure that it will not be a direct replacement fit, when you consider the other bits and pieces that need to be fitted back after the motherboard replacement, but I could be wrong.

It is - one of the USB ports is on the opposite side of the laptop. Because of this, I don't think swapping the motherboards would work unless you're willing to do surgery on the base plastics.

Thanks for the replys.
That is kind of what i though,it wouldent work.
I have a nice loaded X30 on the way to my.Should be here anyday.
When i get it i'll see what the speed of it's like.It has the P-IIIm 1.2Ghz with 1gig ram.
But the stuff i'm doing on computer now,it dont think it will be fast enough.Alot of photoshop , movie editing and making and burning to external dvd-rw.
I'm thinking i may have bought this X30 to fast.I may need something with a bit more CPU power.
But i'll wait and see what it's like.It may be up for sale or more likely a trade(with $$) for something more speedy.

I love the X-Series, but it is not suitable for those tasks, due to the small low-res screen. I use my powerful desktop computer for things like that, and if I was to use a laptop for it, I'd have got one of the high-res screen T-Series laptops - maybe one of the recent widescreen ones.
