SOLVED - 3D problems on x31

I'm not sure if this Forum is the right one, so if it is the wrong one, please forgive and move the thread.

It seems as if my x31 (2672-CBG with 2GB RAM) has serious problems with 3D work. I'm using a SP2 patched version of the supplyed recovery WinXP Pro (I also updated the ipw2100s driver to the newest version).
If I try to run either Google Earth (doesn't make any difference if I put it on OpenGL or Direct3D) or Rhino 3D (v4.0 SR1) the computer or at least the programm will crash. With GE I get a bluescreen nearly immediatly, Rhino quits with an error as soon as I choose any tool from the "toolpalette", whilst for example clicking around in the menu works fine, even the rendering window opens up fine and everything, but no chance to do anything with any kind of tool.

I already tried to install a newer ATi Catalyst driver (v. 6.10) but the installation fails even after having previously deinstalled the original GPUs driver with the errormsg "no supported device detected".

Please help me to find any solution for the problem, I have no clue where to beginn or what to do any more.

I got the hint on another forum, and the problem was solved by using Omega 3.8.252 drivers!
