Creating a recovery disk

#1 Post by callmedrlove » Sun Dec 16, 2007 2:42 pm

Hi, I just bought a used x41t and I've been reading about the advantages of installing a clean install of Windows XP Tablet edition. I read an article detailing how to create an install disk using the recovery disk. Here is my question. I don't have a recovery disk, but I did use IBM's utility to create a recovery disk. Would this created disk be the same thing as the original recovery disk? For the record, the tablet has Vista Ultimate installed right now. It runs relatively slowly, but it also only has 512mb of RAM currently. I'm going to attempt to install a 2gb stick of RAM, but I imagine Vista will still run too slowly. Thanks!

Yes contents of IBM utility burned recovery discs are the same as the factory pressed recovery discs.

I am not too sure if X41 Tablet was sold equipped with Windows Vista (atleast this is what sounded from your post to me). But just make sure what you've created is not the Rescue media disks.

It did not come equipped with Vista, but the guy I bought it from had upgraded to Vista Ultimate. I used the program called "Create Recovery Media".

You're good to go.
