WPC11 Wireless Adapter No Recognized.

WPC11 Wireless Adapter No Recognized.

On my X20 2662. I did a fresh Win 2000 install (do not have RR Disks) but after I install the Linksys driver / program it says that the "WPC11 is Inactive"

The WPC11 power light does come on when inserted and all worked well before the reinstall on W2K

What am I missing?

Thanks!

I also use a WPC11 (ver. 3) on Windows 2000 SP4 but it is in a 600X. Try leaving the card in the slot and shut the PC all the way down and restart.

You may also encounter the error mentioned in the note below, from my archives.

After installing the most recent driver from Linksys for the Linksys
WPC11 v3 wireless NIC on my win2k laptop (sp4) on reboot I would get a
message saying that vanguard.exe caused an error and a log was being
created. vanguard.exe is located at "C:\Program Files\Linksys\Wireless
Network PC Card". I searched the net and newsgroups and could only find
one other similar question but no answers.

I was able to resolve this issue by stopping the NICSer_WPC11 service.
Subsequent reboots no longer produced the vanguard.exe error. I could
not find any information on what vanguard.exe or the NICSer_WPC11
service are supposed to do. The WPC11 works just fine without
NICSer_WPC11 running. I hope this helps someone else.
