thinkpad x21 max resolution

I just bought a thinkpad x21 (2662-41). I love this laptop, my first thinkpad and i instintly loved it.

However i have come to find out i happened to get my hands on the one of only two models that offers max resolution of 800x600. is there any way possible to increase the resolution? (powerstrip does not work)

Also what is the largest hard drive that i can put in the computer? and brand is recomended?

No, not with that screen. I suppose it might be possible to change the display lid assembly for one with an XGA screen, but I never tried that.

Any capacity that's available up to now (that is, up to 100GB yet). Has to be a 2.5" that is no higher than 9.5mm, 12.5mm won't fit in, but such drives are no longer manufactured, anyway.

and brand is recomended?

I prefer IBM, which is now HitachiGST (=Hitachi Global Storage).

ok, well has anyone ever attempted (sucessfully) physically switching out the factory screen for another to increase resolution?

it maybe too much work for an older machine, but would be nice to have increased res.
