Can anybody comment on an older X21/X22/X23/X24 and its performance:
1. Battery wise (assuming I get a new battery).
2. Start up time.
3. Out of standby time.
4. Out of hibernate time.
And yes, it's with respect to Win XP, hence my question in this thread. I've been tossing the relative merits of a new or almost new X31 or X40, but am having a hard time justifying the extra cost for what would basically be a portable machine only. One thing I keep reading is that the X31 and X40 have great battery life, especially with extended batteries, but I'm wondering if the older X20s do okay with the same setup.

I get about two hours out of my 'dying' X20 battery. It charge 21 out of the possible 35mah. It works really well for wireless web surfing/word processing/ portable machine duty. I play mp3s, watch movies, no problem.
Applications load sort of slowly, but I only have 128mb RAM.
Startup and hibernate times are very quick, as quick as my Athlon 2500+, 1GB RAM system.
X20 600mhz PIII 128mb RAM, XP SP2
Firefox 1.0/Thunderbird

I have a used x20 (600mhz, 320ram) I bought. Since it was used i dont know how long the battery used to last but now i get minimum 2 hours to a max of 2.5.hours.
I have XP pro, SP2 and Going into hibernation is quick but coming out is really slow, around 1 minute and 15 secs or so, boot up only takes and extra 30 seconds or so, so I dont hibernate much.
But resuming from standby is very quick, takes around 10 seconds, sometimes less and consumes VERY little batt power. I tested by going into standby when i had 7 min of batter life left and 3 hours later I was able to resume it. I usually always just suspend it.
The only problem is sometimes it does not resume from stanby, I just get a black screen.... but i have only had the laptop for a few weeks and am working on this.
