Resolution limits

The driver says it will at 16bits. The # of Mbs fits. I have driven 1600x1280 with no problems. again 16bit color. Speed was fine. Make sure to get the ATI driver from the Lenovo Update 3.0

That assumes XP SP2 on my machine. I haven't tried Vista, but so far anything XP can do, Vista can do on my X31s.

Thanks for the reply. Was normal browsing and office apps performance fine at that resolution? Are you able to use both your laptop and external screens, or does the laptop screen have to be turned off?

Just to be sure - I'm guessing the resolution was 1600*1200?

:) Yeah, 1600x1200, must have stuttered.

No, I had both running. At 16bit color I would only need 4Mb to run that resolution. I did have to adjust my color depth down on the LCD, also.

Actually the ATI driver went up to 1920x1200 like my desktop screen. Interesting, I will have to try that, too.
Main X31 Vista Ult 1.6Mhz CPU 2Gb RAM 160Gb HD Artheros 54Mbit Wifi,
3-X31s XP, X24 XP, X22 XP, X21 XP, lots of parts for all of them.

Will it be at all possible to run any more than 16 bit colour? I am thinking of getting a 24" MVA display, but I don't think the MVA won't really be worth it if it'll only get 65k colours. 24 bit would be perfect, but I'm not sure if the X31 can handle that at this high of a resolution...

Yes, that's what I meant when I asked about 1900*1200... My turn to make a typo I guess :)

Just checked it and it is limited to 16bit. But at just a little bit lower it is 24bit.

I didn't see this post, so I didn't get to thank you for your efforts earlier. Thanks! I guess I'll have to wait until both the screen and a used T4* are in my price range.
