x41 ethernet adapter

#1 Post by edgerton » Fri Jan 04, 2008 7:39 am

Can anyone confirm whether or not you can replace a ethernet adapter in an x41 notebook? I've seen FRUs for wireless adapters for this model but not for ethernet adapters.

I have an x41 that loses network connectivity everytime it's restarted. The only fix has been to uninstall it from Device Manger and then redetect it.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS the factory default settings? Sometimes things get screwed up on that end. IIRC the X40/X41 have onboard ethernet - you'd have to replace the whole motherboard which isn't exactly cost effective. Alternative (less elegant) would be a CardBus or USB ethernet adapter.

I'll try and reset the BIOS and if that doesn't work will probably go the external adapter route.
