Question about X20 model number "RRL"

#1 Post by phool@round » Fri Jan 04, 2008 9:19 pm

Product: ThinkPad X20 2662-RRL [change]

Operating system: Windows XP [change]

Original description: Based upon 2662-39U PIII 600MHz (256KB), 64MB RAM, 20.0GB HDD, 12.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, Li-Ion battery, Win2000
Anyone know what "RRL" means? This is a replacement system board I bought awhile ago, just installed it.

I don't believe "RRL" means anything beside you've listed from the product support description. It's just a way of noting what the system configuration was when the laptop left the factory. If you're asking what each character means, then I can only respond with this:

- the first "R" is the ONLY valid configuration for 2662-xRL. I tried 0-9, A-Q and S-Z in the type field and received "product not found" responses
- usually the last character reflects the country for which the system has been outfitted (i.e., "U" for US English keyboard; "K" for Korea)

For T23 systems, I am always interested in systems which are 2647-5xx or 2647-9xx (grab a T2x HMM and figure that out :) ) so certain characters seem to be directly tied to specific options.

On the BIOS main page it states the "RRL" as well. I had Lenovo "automatically detect" my system to see what it would pull up hence the cut and paste.

I can't find a "-39U" in the tawbook or HMM, it stops at "-37U" for the X20 600's and picks up at "-41U" for the 600MHz X21's.

I was thinking along the lines of "-CTO" and wondered if "RRL" had something to do with "R"epair, "R"efurbished and I don't know what the "L" might stand for....... "Liquidate".....LOL.

Wonder if this is a factory repaired board? They would have to change the serial number in order to install in another......?
