Which wireless adapter for X31?

#1 Post by AonBot » Sun Jan 06, 2008 9:00 pm

Hey guys. I just picked up an X31, and I'd like to upgrade the wireless. I've looked around here and it seems many people prefer Atheros cards. I found this but the FRU doesn't bring up anything, yet the auction lists it as being the same card as the normal Atheros card. So I'd like to know if anyone has experience with a card like this.

If that card won't work, I guess I'll just get a 2200 card unless anyone has any better suggestions.

Thanks for the help. :)

Be aware, though, that it probably won't work with
the latest Access Connections and the latest WIFI drivers together.
I could get older drivers to work with the newer AC,
or latest drivers to work with an older AC or with Atheros' ACU.
Be prepared to spend some time trying combinations of things.

Well, you could give the SparkLAN WMIA-207GN a try. My X31 is using one right now with Vista and OSX86, and it seems to work well enough. You would have to run the 1802 hack to get it to work, though.

Not to HiJack this thread, but I have noticed 91P7301 mentioned in several threads as a great 802.11g card for the X31, but I have one right here, and it does not install for me.

Type 2672-CBU
XPproSP2
1.5GB IBM PC2100 (1x1GB, 1x512Mb)
40GB Hitachi HDD
BIOS 1QET97WW (3.02)
Embedded Controller 1QHT23WW (1.08 )

Every time I go to install this device it hangs at Ethernet Adapter detected. It won't find the drivers auto-magically, and it won't let me point to the extracted path C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANATH

It's getting pretty frustrating, does anyone have a similar experience?
I'm 99% sure this card isn't DOA, and will be confirming via T40 swap in the morning.

Any thoughts would be appreciate.

Nevermind, I will now crawl back into my hole and repeat, thou shalt not be a re-re, thou shalt not be a re-re until I loose my voice.

Turns out I had the wrong driver package DUH.

Had d/l'd

7RWC09WW

But needed

77WC39WW instead.

Last post made on the old 2100 this one on the g, so all's good.
