This is a very retarded question, but would it be possible to bring in my hard drive from my X31 and put it into my x32 with no problems? The X32 does have Bluetooth.
I'm assuming that the X32 will need to have drivers installed if I use the hard drive from my x31. I'm just a little lazy and don't want to reinstall new programs on the x32 hard drive.
Question #2:
If I decided to just sell the x31, the original hard drive has a hidden partition. Could I just use the IBM Access to erase/format the hard drive and return to a clean factory install without having to re-install windows?
All of that said . . . I have an x31 1.4 gHz with a second hard drive, CF Microdrive and external USB enclosure for the second hard drive.
Going From a 1.4 gHz X31 to a 2.0 gHz X32
Re: X31 -> X32
1: I have in essence done this. I have an X31 installed HD that I put into a 1.8GHz motherboard system (X32). You should have little trouble. I have swapped around drives between various X31s with little problems - the OS is pretty good about finding drivers.
To the best of my understanding, the main upgrade from X31 to X32 was the CPU - the rest of the board is identical.
2: Because you have the hidden partition, you can reinstall a clean pre-load on the hard-drive.
If you are talking about the same drive for question 1 and 2, make a copy of it. There are a few tricks you will need to know when you do the copy - to make sure you copy the HPA (where the preload install software is located).
PM me if you have more questions.

Thanks for the info!
I used Acronis True Image and realized that I did NOT copy the hidden partition it looks like. I will attempt to do this again as I have another hard drive. When using Acronis, any tips? Can I add the hidden partition to another drive AFTER I've copied the drive?
Re: Thanks for the info!
I have used Acronis to clone an X31 drive including restore partition. You can search for the thread, I wrote up my steps.epu wrote:I used Acronis True Image and realized that I did NOT copy the hidden partition it looks like. I have moved hard drives from an X31 to an X30 and T23 with no problem. I have also used a set of X31 disks to set up an X32 so I expect you will have no problem. You will just have to find and update some new drivers after everything starts up with the new drive installed.
