X20 - Fan always on

Hi,
I have a small question on my X20:
Once the fan started to blow, it will never stop again, until I switch off the computer. Should it be like this?
I mean, even when the X20 is idle and mobilemeter shows ~40°C, the fan doesn't stop.
It is not very loud, since i replaced it with a new one from ibm, but i'm just curious.

I have no idea when mine is even on and spinning let alone what temp it runs at. It's quite quiet so I guess I just never payed any attention to it.
