battery trick

Has anyone ever tried the trick with freezing a laptop battery to get it to work again?
I am trying it now, but I was curious if anyone had any success with this method?
Also does anyone here have a X20 battery that they would like to sell?....just in case the freezer thing fails.

I never tried the freezing trick but I did rig up a 12 volt light with short wires and spade terminals to "totally" discharge a COMPAQ battery that wouldn't charge. It worked and got it back about to about 50% of capacity. I also tried this on an IBM and HP without success. The Compaq batteries I think were known to do this and the internal circuitry would not reset. Either that or I was just darn lucky one time.

It is actually freakin working.....I took the battery out today and let it warm up to room temp and now it is taking a charge...its up to 10% right now.
I will post my final results if anyone is interested.

UPDATE:
It did sort of work, but it is not giving any real useful results....battery shows full charge on battery meter, but only lasts a couple seconds and has not got better even after several cycles.
OH Well...it was worth a try.

for what its worth I've bought chinese ones on eBay for a few bucks and found that they work acceptably. To be precise the battery 'system' fails to report exactly all the items of information (such as temperature) but does hold a charge well. The battery (after 2 years) now only gives 10 minutes of charge. It worked well for the first year, and died over a period of 2 months in the last year
