Hi,
I replaced the 20g hdd with a 40g. The new one did not have the factory install files and the 20g now has linux (and no factory install) After a lot of headaches and trial and error, I was able to restore XP from a backup I had. Now, however, there are a few problems. The thinkpad does not recognize any external HDs connected via USB.
Additionally, it appears that the USB connections on the X4 ultrabay are no longer receiving any power.
The ultrabay is fine since everything worked under the Ubuntu load.
You may ask yourself why in heaven's name I would mess around with these things...
Does anyone have a copy of the OEM install CDs that came with the X40?
I'd be happy (well... not happy, but willing) to pay for the software (just not the exorbitant prices at Lenovo)
In other news, love the T61p. Did anyone else notice that the T61p's headphone and mic connections are NOT on the front but on the left hand side?
Thanx for your help,
Anton
